Jerry Jones shares update on CeeDee Lamb's ankle injury

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury, but some positive news about the situation has since emerged.
Lamb hurt his ankle early in the first quarter of the Cowboys’ 31-14 road loss to the Chicago Bears. The All-Pro wideout got the ball on a running play and had his left leg bend awkwardly underneath him when he was tackled by Bears linebacker Noah Sewell.
Lamb left the game and received treatment in the blue medical tent and the locker room. He later returned and ran a route, but he appeared to be in significant pain and left for good after that.
Jerry Jones shares positive news about Lamb
Following the game, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters that Lamb’s injury was not as serious as it could have been.
“Let’s just keep our fingers crossed,” Jones said.
Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported on Sunday evening that the Cowboys believe Lamb suffered a high-ankle sprain. That has a tendency to be a multi-week injury for skill-position players, but it does not sound like Lamb will need to undergo surgery.
Lamb is off to a hot start in 2025
Lamb had seven catches for 110 yards in Dallas’ Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He caught nine passes for 112 yards in last week’s overtime win over the New York Giants. The four-time Pro Bowl wideout has yet to find the endzone, but he has been the focal point of the Cowboys’ passing offense as expected.
If Lamb is forced to miss time, the Cowboys will lean more heavily on George Pickens. Pickens had five catches for 68 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s loss to Chicago, but he also made a critical mistake late in the game.
