Jimmy Kimmel made his return to television on Tuesday after being pulled off the air last week – and received a big show of support from numerous Hollywood stars, including Jennifer Lopez.
The On The Floor songstress, 56, liked an Instagram post shared to the official Jimmy Kimmel Live! account shortly before he filmed the episode.
The comedian could be seen walking backstage inside the studio with the ‘On Air’ sign lit up above him.
A number of A-listers came to Kimmel’s defense after he was suspended ‘indefinitely’ by ABC following comments he made about Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
The 57-year-old comedian had insinuated that suspected shooter Tyler Robinson, 22, was Republican and that the ‘Maga gang’ was trying to ‘score political points’ over Kirk’s tragic passing.
Stars including Jamie Lee Curtis, Ben Affleck, Selena Gomez and Robert De Niro also signed a union letter with The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

In the wake of Kimmel’s suspension last week, other celebrities took to social media to slam the network and further voiced their support for Kimmel.
On Tuesday, Kimmel’s nearly 30-minute opening monologue broke records as his most-watched one on YouTube.

In less than 24 hours, the clip has amounted over 16 million views and continues to grow.
Kimmel made jibes at President Donald Trump while also saying that he did not intend ‘to make light of the murder of a young man’ – although he didn’t offer a direct apology amidst the monologue.
The YouTube channel for Jimmy Kimmel Live! boasts 21.1 million subscribers and will often post snippets from episodes.
As he addressed the live audience and viewers at home for the first time since being pulled off the air, Kimmel made a reference to the recent controversy.
‘Anyway, as I was saying before I was interrupted,’ he began. ‘I’m happy to be here with you.’
The star also sent gratitude to those who came to his defense, such as conservatives who defended free speech and fellow late night talk show hosts including Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart.

He then became emotional as he brought up the Kirk family towards the end of the monologue.
Over the weekend, Kirk’s wife Erika gave a powerful speech at the memorial service for her late husband – and told the crowd in attendance that she ‘forgives’ the alleged assassin who took his life.
The Turning Point USA co-founder was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University two weeks earlier.
‘She forgave him. That is an example we should follow,’ Kimmel tearfully said. ‘If you believe in the teachings of Jesus, as I do, that’s it.
‘A selfless act of grace, forgiveness from a grieving widow. It touched me deeply, I hope it touches many.’
He continued, ‘And if there’s anything we can take from this tragedy to carry forward, it can be that and not this.’

He then became emotional as he brought up the Kirk family towards the end of the monologue

The comedian further addressed his remarks made live on air the previous week – and said, ‘It was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man. I don’t think there’s anything funny about it.’
He also referenced to the remark he made about the suspected shooter.
Kimmel had stated that the ‘MAGA gang’ was ‘desperately trying to characterize the kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.’
And in Tuesday’s opening monologue, Kimmel explained that it was not ‘my intention to blame any specific group for the actions what – it was obviously a deeply disturbed individual.
‘That was really in the opposite of the point I was trying to make, but I understand that to some that felt either ill-timed or unclear, or maybe both.’
The TV personality continued, ‘And for those who think I did point a finger, I get why you’re upset. If the situation was reversed, there’s a good chance I’d have felt the same way.’

He stated, ‘The president of the United States made it very clear he wants to see me and the hundreds of people who work here fired from our jobs. Our leader celebrates Americans losing their livelihoods because he can’t take a joke.
‘He was able to squeeze Colbert out of CBS, then he turned his sights on me, and now he’s openly rooting for NBC to fire Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers and the hundreds of Americans who work for their shows who don’t make millions of dollars.’
The star added, ‘And I hope that if that happens, or if there’s even any hint of that happening, you will be 10 times as loud as you were this week.’
Earlier this week on Monday, Disney announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live! would return to ABC.

During Tuesday’s episode, Kimmel was joined by guest Glen Powell – who said that he was ‘honored’ to be with the late night talk show host
However, the comeback was derailed due to major ABC affiliates such as Sinclair Inc. and Nexstar stating they still will not air the show on their local stations.
In total, 70 ABC affiliates announced that they would not broadcast Kimmel’s return.
During Tuesday’s episode, Kimmel was joined by guest Glen Powell – who said that he was ‘honored’ to be with the late night talk show host.
Sarah McLachlan was the musical guest during the show and Kimmel concluded the episode by telling the crowd, ‘I think we’ll be back tomorrow night, see you then.’
