Halloween social media posts from Vice President JD Vance have taken off online, spawning a wave of memes from users across multiple platforms. Why It Matters Vance's posts, which had accumulated tens of millions of view on X and well over half a million likes on Instagram as of reporting, highlights the vice president’s ability to tap into President Donald Trump’s digital playbook—one that has long leveraged meme culture. What To Know In the posts, Vance can be seen sporting a curly-haired wig—a reference to digitally-altered images of the Republican in which his face has been softened and enlarged, also frequently portraying him with long, flowing curls. On X, the image of Vance wearing the curly-haired wig triggered a deluge of memes. Among the reactions was an AI-generated video of the aforementioned popular Vance meme superimposed on Las Vegas’ famous Sphere. The platform also filled with videos of the meme-style Vance dancing to pulsing electronic beats. Vance’s image had amassed more than 30 million views on X at the time of writing. Vance also posted a video of himself wearing the wig in a video on Instagram. “Happy Halloween kids, and remember—say thank you,” he said in the clip.
