Many suspected that Love and the Jazz would agree to a buyout, as multiple reports have hinted that he would prefer to play for a team competing for a title.

The Jazz do not fit that bill as they were one of the worst teams in the league last year, and that is expected to carry over into this upcoming season. Nonetheless, it appears that Love will push forward and enter his 18th season in the league with the Utah Jazz.

Love and the Jazz could agree to a buyout on Monday ahead of Media Day for the team, but the expectation is that he will remain with the team.

Some teams have finalized their preseason rosters, and many have started training camp. The Jazz have not yet started, but their roster is as good as set with Love.

Love’s role with the team has not been established, but the expectation is that he will be used as a depth piece similar to how he has been used the last handful of seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat.

Last season, Love played a limited role with the Heat. In 23 games and nine starts, the former UCLA Bruin averaged 5.3 points per game, 4.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.7 steals while shooting 35.7 percent from the field and 35.8 percent from beyond the arc in 10.9 minutes of action.

Love has panned out a Hall of Fame-type career. Outside of being a five-time All-Star, he has made two All-NBA Second Teams, 2011 NBA Most Improved Player, 2011 rebounds leader and played an integral part of the Cavaliers’ 2016 championship team.

Love will enter his age 37 season and what appears to be his first with the Jazz, barring a move.
