Ja'Son Prevard's interception caps Virginia's upset of FSU

University of Virginia junior defensive back Ja’Son Prevard left his mark on a dramatic upset victory for the Cavaliers on Friday night.
Prevard, a St. Joseph Academy graduate and Atlantic City resident, picked off two passes in Virginia’s 46-38 double-overtime victory against FSU, which was previously ranked eighth in the country.
Prevard’s second interception of the game was the one that sealed the game in double overtime. As soon as he hauled in FSU quarterback Tommy Castellano’s pass, thousands of UVA students stormed the field.
Prevard, who transferred from Morgan State, added two tackles in the win.
Virginia is now ranked 24th, and FSU fell down to No. 18.
WR Lotzeir Brooks (Millville) caught two passes for 40 yards in Alabama’s 24-21 win over Georgia. Alabama (3-1) is ranked 10th in the country.
DL Keshon Griffon (St. Joseph) had a tackle for a loss in Rutgers’ 31-28 loss to Minnesota.
DL Denis Jaquez Jr. (St. Augustine Prep) had four tackles, including a sack and half a tackle for a loss, in Syracuse’s 38-3 loss to Duke.
LB Bradley Pao (St. Augustine) made three tackles in Bucknell’s 30-23 win over Saint Francis.
DB Nasir Hill (St. Augustine) and LB Stephen Ordille (Mainland Regional) each made two tackles in Princeton’s 38-28 win over Lafayette. For the Leopards, WR Elijah Steward (Holy Spirit) caught seven passes for 81 yards.
LB Matt Bonczek (St. Augustine) made two tackles and returned a fumble 40 yards for a TD in Marist’s 31-28 loss to Butler. S Tyrell Powell (Vineland) added a tackle and broke up a pass.
S Cohen Cook (Mainland) made four tackles and broke up a pass in New Hampshire’s 24-6 win over Albany.
DB Kenny Selby (St. Augustine) had two tackles in Sacred Heart’s 35-31 win over Delaware State.
RB Ja’Briel Mace (Mainland) ran three times for 18 yards in Villanova’s 31-24 win over William & Mary. DB Jamie Tyson (Mainland) made two tackles.
OL CJ Conti (Ocean City) started for a Kutztown offense that gained 425 yards in a 49-10 win over Shepherd. LB Nick Layton (Ocean City) had three tackles. DB Kashon Jones (Millville) made two stops, and DL Brayden Pohlman (Mainland) added a tackle.
WR Jordan Marcucci (Absegami) caught two passes for 15 yards in UNC Pembroke’s 31-0 win over Valdosta State. He also had a 48-yard kick return.
DB Mike Weaver (Holy Spirit) made five tackles and picked off a pass in Saint Anselm’s 31-29 win over Pace.
WR Jayden Llanos (Holy Spirit) had two catches for 9 yards in Seton Hill’s 40-13 loss to Indiana (Pa.).
QB Riley Gunnels (Ocean City) went 24 for 33 with 169 yards and a TD in Shippensburg’s 10-7 win over Bloomsburg.
OL Christian Solomon (St. Joseph) started for a Virginia Union offense that gained 611 yards in a 59-7 win over Shaw.
DB Amon McLaughlin (Cedar Creek) made three tackles and broke up four passes in Albright’s 35-9 win over Widener. RB DeAndre Clemons (Hammonton) ran four times for 18 yards.
DL James Mahana (Egg Harbor Township) made six tackles, including two for a loss, in Delaware Valley’s 21-18 loss to Lebanon Valley. DL Tayshaun Newman (Millville) made four tackles. WR Alvaro Lora (Holy Spirit) had three catches for 19 yards and a 6-yard run.
QB Brett Nabb (Middle Township) ran 18 times for 164 yards and two TDs in Eastern’s 39-37 win over King’s. He also went 9 for 18 for 257 yards, two TDs and an interception. OL Justin McNulty (Holy Spirit) started for an offense that gained 600 yards.
For King’s, DE Xander Murray (Southern Regional) made eight tackles, including half a tackle for a loss, recovered a fumble and returned an interception 15 yards for a TD.
WR Jack Hoag (Ocean City) caught three passes for 19 yards in Hamilton’s 27-13 win over Bowdoin.
WR Anthony Rucci (Pinelands Regional) caught five passes for 105 yards and a TD in Misericordia’s 41-10 win over Alvernia.
WR Michael Zarfati (Middle Township) caught six passes for 138 yards and three TDs in Rowan’s 34-23 win over Lycoming. DB AJ Ryker (Hammonton) made six tackles. For Lycoming, QB Joe Lyons (Atlantic City) went 22 for 39 for 280 yards, a TD and an interception.
DL Chase Lomax (St. Joseph) had a sack and a forced fumble in Salisbury’s 55-6 win over Catholic.
DL Clifford Dirkes (Ocean City) made five tackles, including 1.5 for a loss, and recovered a fumble in The College of New Jersey’s 35-0 win over Juniata. DL Justin Gooden (Ocean City) made four tackles, including half a tackle for a loss, and LB Dave Giulian (Middle Township) had eight tackles.
LB Tallen Murray (St. Joseph) had a team-leading 10 tackles, including 1.5 for a loss, in Wilkes’ 24-21 win over Montclair State.
QB JC Landicini (Cedar Creek) went 4 for 4 with 28 yards in William Paterson’s 38-14 win over Moravian.
