Jason Kelce Responds to Canadian Fans After World Series Backlash

Jason Kelce is responding to fans angry over his recent 2025 World Series comments following the conclusion of the Dodgers’ championship run. “Guys, I love Canada, I have been bamboozled by our social team that failed to show the whole story,” the retired NFL star, 38, explained in a post shared via X on Friday, November 7. “How could I not love poutine, maple syrup, and beavers!! I was actually rooting for the Blue Jays in a World Series that I didn’t care about,” he continued. “Seriously, Canada is the best, I was just talking s*** about not being personally invested of caring that the team that spent the most money and built a super team won the World Series. That’s it. I am a known Canada advocate and Ice Hockey lover.” Kelce had previously weighed in on this year’s World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays during the Wednesday, November 5, episode of his hit “New Heights” podcast. Jason and his brother Travis Kelce were discussing the matchup, which was ultimately won by the Los Angeles Dodgers in a dramatic 11-inning game 7. After Travis, 36, described the World Series as “absolutely epic,” Jason gave his own take on the showdown and end result “So you’re telling me I’m supposed to get excited about a Canadian baseball team and a team that just spends more money than everybody else?” he asked his brother. “Who the f*** cares about either?” “Both of them spend more money than everybody, it’s baseball,” Travis interjected. “Yeah, that’s why baseball sucks. That’s why baseball is used by World Series championship in the dumbest thing in the world,” Jason continued, which prompted Travis to note that the games were “exciting.” “It’s exciting, it’s exciting that the team that spent the most money and everybody knew was gonna win the World Series, won the World Series?” an outraged Jason answered. After Travis noted that the “unexpected” person won the World Series for the Dodgers, Jason concluded, “It was unexpected? Everybody knew this was gonna happen before the season. We just had a bunch of meaningless s*** happen before it and then it happened.” Jason appeared to be referencing an oft-discussed topic within the baseball community: teams that spend a lot of money on payroll and invest in their athletes tend to win more championships. According to The Sports Geek, which analyzed 10 years of baseball payrolls and championship results, it’s not always that cut and dry. The site noted that while the teams that spend the most money do tend to make the playoffs, only two of the past 10 championship winning teams also had the highest payroll in the league. In fact, the top 10 teams with the highest payroll actually averaged a 7th-place season finish. The Dodgers pulled off the championship after back-to-back wins against the Blue Jays. The final game, played on November 1, went into 11 innings and Los Angeles ultimately came out on top and bested Toronto 5-4. Dodger’s pitcher Clayton Kershaw officially announced his retirement following the monumental game.
