Jannik Sinner recently reflected on the sacrifices required for his success in the tennis world. The Italian disagreed with Carlos Alcaraz's coach Juan Carlos Ferrero’s take about ‘enslavement’ as he opened up about his relationship to the sport.Sinner first made waves in the tennis world in 2019, when he clinched multiple Challenger titles as well as the Next Gen ATP Finals trophy, often outdoing higher ranked opponents en route to the title. Since then, the 24-year-old has gone on to establish himself as the new face of men's tennis alongside rival Carlos Alcaraz.Recently, Alcaraz's coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, addressed the requirements of being a top player, emphasising that to be World No.1 you had to be ‘a slave tennis’. In an interview with Sky Sports, Jannik Sinner was asked for his thoughts on the statement, and the Italian responded,"I would use another term, I would say passion. I have a lot of passion in what I do. I was lucky enough to practice a lot of sports as a kid, I played football, I did ski, I did cyclism, running... but tennis taught me I can find myself. Anything can happen outside the court, but on court I feel safe. And especially when things are good, you need to work more because when you feel good the mind learns every tiny detail. When you lose, you're more negative and it doesn't make sense to go on court at times.”“In tennis you have to make a lot of sacrifices but for me it will always be the most important thing, until I decide it's like this. The moment I realise it's over, that my body doesn't respond to me anymore, I will stop,” he went on to add.Sinner was most recently seen in action at trh Paris Masters, where he defeated the likes of Alexander Zverev and Felix Auger-Aliassime to lift his fifth title of the year.
