Actress Sonal Chauhan, most popularly known for her role in the film Jannat, has officially joined the cast of ‘Mirzapur: The Film’. While reports about her being a part of the project surfaced a few weeks ago, Sonal has now confirmed the same by sharing a post on Instagram. She shared pictures of a beautiful gift hamper and a welcome note from Excel Entertainment, celebrating her joining the project. In her caption, she wrote that she is thrilled to be a part of such an ‘incredible and game-changing’ journey. Its gritty portrayal of power, revenge, and politics in the heartlands of Uttar Pradesh has made it a cultural phenomenon. Now, director Gurmmeet Singh is taking the story to theatres, turning the hit web series into a full-fledged feature film, a first in India. Backed by Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment, it is a cinematic adaptation of the popular Prime Video series and will bring back the original cast, except Vikrant Massey. The big-screen adaptation is slated for a 2026 theatrical release across India before making its way to OTT platforms.
