Janhvi Kapoor Reveals She Pretends To Be 'Dumb' On Set To 'Navigate Male Egos'

Janhvi Kapoor recently appeared on Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s show, Two Much. During her appearance, she revealed that on set, she pretends to be dumb in order to navigate male egos. She said that it’s not always easy for her to put her point across, especially if a scene is politically incorrect. In such instances, she pretends that she doesn’t understand too many things. Janhvi Kapoor said, “I understand that I am coming from a place of privilege in my work environment. But I feel for me it’s been (about) navigating egos, male egos. If I have an opinion, recently, I am in rooms where I can say what I want without feeling the need to tiptoe around.” Posts from the bollyblindsngossip community on Reddit “But I have been in rooms and situations where I kind of need to precede someone and pretend to be dumb. You need to pick your battles and manoeuvre how you need to out your point across without rubbing anyone the wrong way,” she added. She explained, “I am still picking my battles. I know this doesn’t make sense, but I will let it go, and on the next one, I will tell them what I feel. But I need to tell them 10 nice things and pretend I am not capable enough to perform this way, just because I think it’s too politically incorrect to perform the scene in this way. I will just say, ‘Mujhe samajh nahi aa raha (I am not getting it)’, instead of saying this is f***ed up!” Meanwhile, on the work front, Janhvi Kapoor was recently seen in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. The film follows Sunny (Varun Dhawan) and Tulsi (Janhvi Kapoor), who join forces to make their ex-partners, Vikram (Rohit Saraf) and Ananya (Sanya Malhotra), jealous as the latter prepare to get married. However, things take an unexpected turn when Sunny and Tulsi begin to develop feelings for each other, leading to a series of humorous misunderstandings. It marks Varun and Janhvi’s second project together after Nitesh Tiwari’s romantic drama, Bawaal.
