Jamie Carragher Reveals Thoughts On 'Anger' in England After Gary Neville's Rant

Jamie Carragher has delivered his verdict on the current division sweeping the United Kingdom, suggesting that Brexit was "a big mistake". The Liverpool legend appeared on LBC to discuss the state of the country and was asked about his Sky Sports co-host, Gary Neville's rant in which he took aim at "middle-aged white men" when discussing the current social unrest in the country. Neville's comments came following the synagogue attack in Manchester that claimed the lives of two innocent Jewish civilians. An attack that has since been labelled as a 'terrorist incident' saw Jihad Al-Shamie, a British citizen of Syrian descent, ram his car into innocent bystanders, before stabbing the victims at Heaton Park's Hebrew Congregation. As per the BBC, he took the lives of two people, Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66, and injured three more. The 35-year-old suspect was shot dead at the scene and has been a topic of conversation since. Addressing Neville's comments, Carragher admitted that he was not as "politically active" as the ex-Manchester United star, but did say that Brexit was "a big mistake". He said: "That was the one time when I did probably get fully involved in politics and, yeah, I thought that was a big mistake, Brexit. And I think it's probably been proven correct." Jamie Carragher Addresses Anger In UK As part of his interview, Carragher spoke about the current social landscape in the UK and reaffirmed his support for the Labour Party, despite criticism being aimed at Prime Minister, Keir Starmer. He said: "I will be supportive of anybody who leads the Labour Party because where I come from we vote Labour and that will always be the case. "So if it's Keir Starmer. I will vote for Keir Starmer. If it's Andy Burnham, I'll vote for Andy Burnham. If its Wes Streeting, I'll vote for him or whoever it could be in the future. "It's not just about the Labour government. It's probably, you know, it goes back to the Conservative government about people coming in on boats and things like that. It just feels like there is a lot of anger in the country. It does feel divisive." sss
