Jamie Carragher delivers brutal Ruben Amorim Man United sack verdict - 'inevitable'

Jamie Carragher has provided his thoughts on the future of Ruben Amorim at Manchester United following defeat to Brentford in the Premier League . Following a win over Chelsea last weekend, United had the chance to secure back-to-back victories in the Premier League for the first time under Amorim. Two goals from Igor Thiago in the first half at Gtech Community Stadium saw that hope diminish significantly with Mathias Jensen grabbing the Bees’ third in the final knockings. Benjamin Sesko grabbed his first United goal earlier in the game but it did not impact the overall outcome with Bruno Fernandes also missing a penalty. Despite a fourth defeat of the season already, MEN Sport has reported that the United board are sticking by Amorim and have not lined-up any replacements. It appears as though Amorim may have been informed of that stance given his post-match verdict. “I am never concerned about my job – I am not that kind of guy,” he told BBC Match of the Day on Saturday. “It is not my decision. I will do the best I can every minute I am here.” Pundits have also been discussing his future at United with Carragher the latest to deliver a verdict and he made his thoughts perfectly clear. Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, he said: “I think he’s still in a job because the powers-at-be have made so many mistakes that they almost don’t want to admit right now they have made another. “This has been a disaster for Amorim and United. The quicker they make a decision on the manager we are only waiting for the inevitable. This has to end as quickly as possible.” Rather brutally, he then stated: “I think every other Premier League manager would think ‘I could to a better job’ – the only positive is they haven’t gone all out for his system.” Referencing the summer signings, Carragher believes that all three attackers could still work in a more traditional back-four system. “Any competent football manager could get United to the European places or certainly fighting for them,” he added. “It couldn’t have gone any worse. “What he did at Sporting was really special, but it will be better for everyone to just shake hands and move on.” — Here at the Manchester Evening News, we’re dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.
