James DeGale’s BKFC debut descends into chaos with four-point deductions during ‘dirty’ fight

James DeGale’s bare-knuckle career got off to a winning start on Saturday night.
The Olympic gold medal-winning former boxing world champion fought Matty Floyd at BKFC 81.
It was his first fight since retiring after being outpointed by Chris Eubank Jr. in February 2019.
James DeGale quickly found out that bare-knuckle is nothing like the ‘sweet science’ he is used to.

The referee deducted four points from the fighters over the course of five eventful rounds at the AO Arena in Manchester, England.
Matt Floyd could’ve been disqualified for landing a blatant head butt on James DeGale at the end of round one.
Members of both teams swarmed the ring as an all-out brawl threatened to break out inside the ring.
Thankfully, the heated situation was calmed down, and Floyd was docked two points for his egregious foul.
Both fighters lost a point each in round three, which made for some pretty interesting scorecards when they went the distance.
Ultimately, DeGale walked away with a unanimous decision to start his new career with a win.
