Louisiana State University alum Bernard, who now lives in Louisiana and once ran for the office of consul general, is a son of Burnt Savannah. On the weekend he collaborated with some US Navy veterans who have been helping to restore the community from the effects of Hurricane Mellisa. Their efforts are set to continue until the end of November.
