Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis Cancelled

New dates have been revealed as organizers scramble to salvage Jake Paul's boxing exhibition. The internet sensation was due to box Gervonta Davis on the 14th of November at the Kaseya Center in Miami but the bout, which has long been mired in controversy, is in disarray following Tank's alleged legal issues. Back when the exhibition was first announced, it was set to take place in Georgia but a commissioning executive there blasted the event as a "money grabber," forcing Most Valuable Promotions to relocate. But, looking back, that was the last of MVP's problems as they issued a statement to GIVE ME SPORT last week indicating that they were forced to investigate Davis after fresh domestic violence allegations. "We unequivocally condemn any form of violence and are committed to handling this matter with diligence and respect for all involved," the statement said, adding: "We will make a determination on next steps once we have completed our review and consulted with the appropriate parties." Now, those next steps are becoming increasingly apparent. A 28-year-old firebrand, Paul has leveraged his popularity online to become a key player in combat sports, even though he has not faced the kind of competition that a boxer typically has to, to become a superstar. Of late, though, Paul has beaten Mike Perry, Mike Tyson, and, perhaps most impressively, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. A bout involving Tank, even if unofficial, would have elevated Paul even further — particularly as Netflix was airing the event to a significant worldwide audience. But, alas, that is perhaps no more. "Gervonta Davis is expected to be withdrawn from his 14th of November Netflix exhibition vs Jake Paul." Ring Magazine reporter Mike Coppinger added on X that the event will now shift "to December, as a new opponent is sought." Ring Magazine notes Andre Ward, a former unbeaten boxing star in the super middleweight and light heavyweight divisions, is regarded as one option by MVP. However, there are other fighters in the mix for a showdown that is seemingly now being pushed back a whole month. Paul has previously been linked to Anthony Joshua, with the former two-time heavyweight champion's promoter Eddie Hearn speaking positively about the match-up. The only obstacle, Hearn said, is that his company, Matchroom, and therefore Joshua, are exclusively tied to DAZN. This means a Jake Paul exhibition, for them, could not land on Netflix.
