Jake Paul’s fight against lightweight boxing champion Gervonta Davis is now off. Davis, who has dealt with significant legal issues during his career, currently faces allegations of domestic violence. The boxer’s ex-girlfriend filed a civil suit in Miami, Florida. The complaint accuses Davis of assault and battery at the strip club where the woman worked. She also said that Davis threatened to kill her twice in writing. On Monday, Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions company announced that the bout with Davis – planned for November 14 – would no longer be happening. Paul released a statement of his own, and he didn’t hold back on Davis. Paul’s Strong Statement On Gervonta Davis “Gervonta Davis is an actual walking human piece of garbage. Working with him is an absolute nightmare,” Paul said. “The unprofessionalism, the bizarre requests, the showing up hours late to shoots. To the numerous arrests and related accusations and lawsuits. If you support this man you support the most vile sin a man can commit.” Paul said that he didn’t want to give Davis a platform to grow his brand through the fight, because “my company champions women.” He apologized to several people associated with the upcoming fight card, including the undercard fighters and those who have been working with him at MVP to put on the event. “Sacrificing time with loved ones and kids just for this fool to lose his unintelligent mind again. It’s scary that devilish men like this can rise to the top of culture and sports, including in positions of power,” Paul added. Paul’s bout with Davis was set to be streamed live around the world on Netflix, and he intends to fight on the streaming platform against another opponent before the end of the year. Paul Seeks Another True Boxing Test Davis would have been the most formidable test of Paul’s boxing career. He currently holds a 12-1 professional record, but he’s never fought a pro boxer in the prime of their career – much less one that currently holds a world championship. The Baltimore native has a 30-0-1 record in his professional career, never losing a fight and taking only one to a draw. Of those 30 victories, 26 have come by way of knockout. Davis had another domestic violence charge dismissed earlier this year, when the mother of two of his children declined to press charges. Other incidents have involved further domestic violence allegations, and he was sentenced to 90-day house arrest and three years of probation after a 2023 hit-and-run car accident in his hometown.
