Each month scores of wrongdoers face justice in courts across the region. Here are 10 of those who were given prison terms including a police officer who was sacked. October alone saw more than 10 criminals from Wolverhampton to Stafford face justice for crimes against the public handed their sentences. 1) Shane Rollinson Rogue builder Shane Rollinson, of The Shrubbery, Dudley, was jailed on October 21 to a total of four years and one month for participating in a fraudulent business, perverting the course of justice and failing to surrender to bail for defrauding victims to the tune of more than £34,000. Rollinson, traded under various names including SN Brickwork, SSR Brickwork & Driveways and Brickwork Best, was convicted at Wolverhampton Crown Court following an investigation by Walsall Council’s Trading Standards team after complaints about shoddy work. He was also handed a 10-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), preventing him from advertising or carrying out any building work or arranging for others to do so on his behalf. 2) Marcus Henry Marcus Henry, aged 34, of Spiral Close, Halesowen, was jailed at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court for four weeks after breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order that stopped him from entering a supermarket on Halesowen Street, Blackheath. Henry is barred from entering the store for three years, but despite this on September 4 he went in the premises and was recognised by the staff who reported him. He then went on to steal hundreds of pounds worth of chocolate during a series of thefts between September 9 and October 9 targeting four stores in Lye, Halesowen and Merry Hill, He admitted all the offences. 3) Ryan Taft Former Stafford worker Kyle Taft, aged 34, pleaded guilty to rioting using unlawful violence on August 4, last year outside Tamworth's Holiday Inn hotel and was sentenced at Stafford Crown Court. The father of two was working in Stafford at the time of the riots which gripped the country in the wake of the murder of children in Southport. False information spread on the internet that the culprit was an asylum seeker led to hotels housing aslyum seekers were attacked. The court was shown footage of Taft throwing missiles, shouting in a loud hailer urging others to storm the hotel and covering his face at the start of the riot with a balaclava. The father-of-two, of Valley Drive, Wilnecote, Tamworth, was working in Stafford at the time of the riots which gripped the country in the wake of the murder of children in Southport. False information spread on the internet that the culprit was an asylum seeker led to hotels housing aslyum seekers were attacked. 4) David Allen Opportunist thief David Allen, aged 40, was jailed for four years for stealing £15,000 worth of jewellery from an elderly woman suffering from dementia in Sedgley. He told his victim he was a window cleaner to gain her trust, before entering her home and helping himself to the items when she went to make a cup of tea. West Midlands Police officers identified him after CCTV captured him in the act. Allen, of Tipton Road, Sedgley, pleaded guilty to a charge of distraction burglary when he appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court on October 17. The court heard that he had previous convictions in the Republic of Ireland including the robbery of an 89-year-old woman while being on bail for the robbery of a 73-year-old taxi driver. 5) David Morris David Morris from Wolverhampton was jailed for almost four years after admitting to suffocating a woman with a pillow on a cruise ship. The 57-year-old and the victim were on holiday in April when the incident happened. He was sentenced to three-years-and-ten-months in prison at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on October 22 after he pleaded guilty to an offence of intentional suffocation. Depriving a person of air which affects their normal breathing due to abuse is an offence under the Domestic Abuse Act 2021. 6) Jack Girvan Jack Girvan, aged 29, of Cannock, was sentenced to four years in prison at Stafford Crown Court on October 23 after he pleaded guilty to offences of being concerned in the supply cocaine, being concerned in making of an offer to supply to another a controlled drug of cannabis and possessing criminal property relating to cash. He was stopped by Staffordshire Police as part of Operation Target while driving a car in Chadsmoor in April last year. Officers searched him and found £688 in cash, as well as cannabis and phones inside the car. 7) Jarrett Kinson Disgraced former Staffordshire Police officer Jarrett Kinson, aged 43, horked served at Burton upon Trent was jailed for seven months for historic assaults against women. Ahead of a scheduled trial at Stafford Crown Court Kinson pleaded guilty to assault and improper use of police powers. After responding to a domestic violence incident in 2011 in Tamworth, Kinson gave the female victim his mobile phone number and returned to her home the same night and had sex with her in his uniform. Playing on her vulnerability Kinson had a long term affair with the woman. He conducted an affair with another woman which ended with him assaulting her. Kinson, of Garten Close, Tamworth, was previously was jailed for nine months and sacked in 2019 after pestering a domestic abuse victim for weeks after he interviewed her as a witness. The latest matters came to light while he was in prison. 9) Dalton Bowen Drug dealer Dalton Bowen, aged 21, has been jailed after police recovered a firearm in Wolverhampton. West Midlands Police officers discovered the pistol and ammunition after stopping Bowen in Boswell Road, Bilston in October last year. Searches of Bowen and an address linked to him, officers recovered the gun and wraps of crack cocaine and heroin. Bowen, of no fixed abode, denied possessing a prohibited weapon and ammunition as well as possessing class A drugs with intent to supply, but was convicted following a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court. He was jailed for seven years imprisonment on October 23. 10) Jamie Bradley Cannock drug dealer Jamie Bradley, aged 24, was jailed after being caught possessing cocaine, cannabis, cash and mobile phones in Hednesford and Rugeley. He was spotted by Staffordshire Police officers at the wheel of a black Ford Mondeo, in Horse Fair, in Rugeley, on August 14. After he was seen parking up in Tom Smith Way he was searched along with the front seat passenger by officers from the force's major and organised crime proactive team who found the cash, two phones and cocaine.Several bags of cannabis were discovered inside the car and in a nearby garden resulting in Bradley being arrested before being later released on police bail. Then on September 3 Bradley was again stopped and searched by officers, in Market Street, in Hednesford, when £1,810 in cash, a mobile phone, cannabis and a Nissan Qashqai were all seized. Bradley was sentenced to four years in prison at Stafford Crown Court on October 24 for being concerned in the supply of cocaine and cannabis and possession with intent to supply cannabis and possessing criminal property. He was banned from driving for 12 months after admitting using a vehicle on a road without third party insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. 11) Byron Gordon Another dealer Byron Gordon, aged 44, of Stafford, was jailed for supplying heroin and crack cocaine after officers stopped a car he was travelling in the Holmcroft area of the town on May 19. When he stopped the car in Charles Cotton Street and went inside a shop where he was spoken to and searched by officers who found a mobile phone. They also searched the vehicle and Gordon's two passenger seizing heroin and mobile phones. Gordon pleaded guilty to the offences and was locked up for six years at a hearing held at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on October 27.
