New Delhi: In a major development Saudi Arabias Mecca has discovered a massive gold mine. According to explorers the mine holds a substantial amount of gold which is expected to bring significant benefits to Saudi Arabia in the future. A massive gold mine has been discovered in Al Khurma Governorate located in Makkah Saudi Arabia. It is situated 100 km away from the Mansourah Massarah mine.
As per the reports the drilling in Uruk located south of Makkah has yielded highly promising results. There is a possibility of finding 10.4 grams of gold per ton. In addition at two other sites the potential yield is 20.6 grams of gold per ton.

After the identification of gold Ma’aden is considering carrying out drilling across the entire area.
For this purpose they have decided to excavate up to 25 kilometers extending from Jabal Al-Ghadra to Bir Al-Tawila.
Initial results have revealed that a significant amount of gold has been found over a stretch of 125 km.
After the discovery Saudi Arabia could potentially emerge at the top of the list of the world’s major gold-producing countries in the future.
According to Ma’aden’s report the Mansourah Massarah mine has so far been declared to hold 7 million ounces of gold.
Every year about 250000 ounces of gold are extracted from it. Technically this mine is considered one of the most advanced mining projects in Saudi Arabia.
The expansion of the Mansourah Massarah mine and the confirmation of reserves in new areas make it clear that Saudi Arabia no longer wants to rely solely on oil.
According to Robert Wille the CEO of Ma’aden the new gold discovery will take Mecca significantly ahead in terms of gold worldwide. This discovery is in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy. The Public Investment Fund (PIF) holds a 67 percent stake in Maaden making this project not only economically but also strategically important from a national perspective.
