Ja Morant Trade Rumors: NBA writer reveals Timberwolves 'checking in' with Grizzlies to land controversial star amid desperate need for PG

The buzz about Ja Morant being shipped away by the Memphis Grizzlies got louder after the team announced that he was being suspended for detrimental conduct. As controversial as Morant has been over the past few seasons, teams across the league can't deny the immense talent he has to offer.According to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, the Minnesota Timberwolves is one team that has reached out to Memphis regarding their disgruntled point guard. Appearing on SiriusXM NBA Radio over the weekend, Krawczynski highlighted the Wolves' need for a court general."There's no real point guard on the roster," Krawczynski said of the Timberwolves. "They're asking Anthony Edwards to do it. They're asking Julius Randle to do a lot of point forward stuff. They certainly have checked in with Memphis on Ja."Krawczynski added that, while nothing is definite at the moment, it's likely that the Timberwolves will make a push to acquire Morant in the next few months."They're testing the waters a little bit. I don't get the sense that there's anything real close," he clarified. "I do think that, if we get to late December and the Wolves are still treading water and that point guard position still has not solidified...I do think that they could explore at least looking harder at Ja Morant."Though the Wolves (5-4) have an above-.500 record, they can certainly use a starting-caliber point guard so that Edwards and Randle can focus on other duties, such as scoring and rebounding.A change of scenery could reinvigorate Morant's career, and a Minnesota squad with multiple All-Stars might just be the new environment that he needs.Viral clip shows Ja Morant claiming that he has lost his joy for basketballAfter Morant returned from his suspension to play against the Detroit Pistons last week, he was asked whether he is playing with the same joy as before."Uh, no," Morant bluntly replied. When asked if things had been resolved between him and the Grizzlies organization, Morant appeared to be annoyed with the question. Like he did in a recent post-game interview, he appeared to defer to what the front office had to say. The frustration, however, was crystal clear in his tone.
