Ivors: Celebrating 50 years of family-run excellence

Few businesses can boast half a century of service, but for Ivors, 2025 marks 50 years as one of Galway’s most trusted family enterprises.

Established in 1975 by Ivor Robinson, the business began with motorcycles before expanding into lawnmowers, garden machinery, and eventually marine engines. Over the decades, it has become a name synonymous with quality, reliability, and an after-sales service that is second to none.

From the beginning, Ivors built its reputation on strong partnerships with world-leading brands. As one of the top-selling dealers in Ireland, Ivor himself travelled to Japan and beyond, visiting the factories of Yamaha, Honda, and Suzuki. Those trips kept the business at the cutting edge of technology and ensured Galway customers had access to the very latest models.

Today, the family tradition continues with Ivor’s children, Lorraine and Ivor Jnr, who now lead the business. Together, they have upheld their father’s commitment to excellence while broadening the range of products and services. Ivors is the main agent for Yamaha and Honda outboard engines, with a selection of quality used models always in stock. The business is also a main agent for Yamaha, Honda, and Suzuki motorcycles, complemented by a fully stocked helmets, clothing, and spares department.

What sets Ivors apart is the care taken with every sale. All machines are fully assembled, fuelled, and demonstrated before leaving the premises, ensuring customers are confident and ready to go. A collection and delivery service, full workshop facilities, and an extensive parts department further underline their commitment to customer support.

For 50 years, Ivors has been more than a dealership; it has been a family business dedicated to serving generations of Galway customers with integrity and expertise. With Lorraine and Ivor Jnr at the helm, that legacy is set to continue well into the future.
