I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here contestant, GK Barry, has opened up on a "tragic" condition which once left her sobbing on a tram. GK Barry, known for her social media content and wit, may appear to have bags of self-confidence to those who have seen her on the screen, but she has revealed it has not always been this way. The Cambridge-born star has now shared that for years she has battled with debilitating anxiety, with the content creator sharing one moment in particular which left her crying her eyes out on public transport. "I remember the first day I went up to visit Nottingham ahead of going to university, my parents said, 'Let's get a tram.' I cried on the tram. It was tragic. I was so scared." GK - who was born Grace Keeling - has explained how it is exactly this alias which allows her to get out there and embrace sometimes intense settings such as Loose Women and I'm A Celeb. While the GK is from her initials, the Barry she uses is taken from the family name of her closest friend, Tatiana Barry, the Mirror reported. "Social interaction gives me anxiety, but when I go into a place as GK Barry I can just switch on the confidence," she explains. Grace shared how it was her stage name which gave her "a lot more confidence," when she began to share TikTok clips about her life. "I quite like having a different name, because it also gives me a little bit of an alter-ego to have a little bit more confidence when I do shows." The other factor which has helped her gain more confidence, Grace explained, is girlfriend, Ella. She said: "She really loves me. I'd never dated a woman before and was really anxious to hold her hand in public. But Ella is like, 'Who cares what people think?' I'm definitely more confident now in that respect."
