Deal or No Deal returned to screens for a fresh instalment on Monday (October 27) evening, but viewers claimed the show was 'ruined' just minutes in. First launching in 2005, the programme made its comeback on ITV in 2023, with You Bet presenter Stephen Mulhern taking over from Noel Edmonds. In the latest episode, Jamie became the first participant to try his fortune with the 22 red boxes, going head-to-head with the notorious Banker for a chance at a substantial cash windfall. When questioned about his plans should he strike it lucky, the model and footballer, who was born deaf, revealed he wanted to purchase a vehicle for his mum, embark on travels and support the deaf community in Africa. Jamie's game got off to a promising start as he successfully eliminated the 50p and 1p with his opening two selections, reports Wales Online . Yet his fortunes rapidly deteriorated after revealing a box holding £75,000. Jamie subsequently received a proposal from The Banker worth £675, which he turned down. The contestant, who captained England's deaf football squad, removed several additional blue boxes during the following round before rejecting a second proposal from The Banker, this occasion for £1,660. Things continued to look bleak for the football star following the loss of £50,000 and £25,000. He then declined the banker's proposal of £2,390. The fourth round kicked off on a high note, with Jamie eliminating the £1 box and the £250 box. The Banker then proposed an offer of £5,145 to Jamie, which he promptly turned down, before discarding the £750 box. Regrettably, Jamie stumbled upon the £100,000 box towards the end, dashing his hopes of bagging the jackpot that day. The Banker then put forth an offer of £2,475, but Jamie declined, choosing to aim for the £10,000 prize. With only £10,000 and £5 remaining in play, he decided not to gamble everything and accepted the banker's offer of £4,150. Sadly for Jamie, his box held the £10,000. However, viewers at home were less than impressed, complaining about the excessive chatter before Jamie opened his boxes. One viewer vented on X, formerly known as Twitter : "New #DealOrNoDeal Been on 2 minutes and I'm already fed up with the inane chatter." Another chimed in: "Just open the bloody boxes without the inane jibber jabber #DealOrNoDeal." A third remarked: "That's the 4 o'clock slot ruined #DealOrNoDeal." However, other fans were delighted to see the show back on air, as one said: "Babe shut up my show is on #DealOrNoDeal." "Let's go! #DealOrNoDeal," another wrote enthusiastically, as one more added: "We are back! #DealOrNoDeal." Deal Or No Deal airs on weekdays from 4pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
