Italian Woman Hits Back At Trolls Targeting Her Indian Husband: ‘Exposing Hate, Not Hiding It’

Online trolling and hate comments have become a routine part of social media. Every day, people share their lives online, where a section of users judge or mock them. While some choose to ignore it, others decide to fight back. Recently, an Italian woman took the latter path when a troll targeted her Indian husband.
Eli, who lives in Dubai with her Kerala-born husband John, shared a video that has drawn sharp reactions. The couple often posts travel content online, but Eli mentioned that racist comments are a constant part of the response they get. This time, instead of ignoring it, she decided to call out the hater directly.
‘Exposing Hate, Not Hiding It’
While posting the video on Instagram, Eli explained why she took this step. “Exposing hate, not hiding it. Every week we get racist comments just for being an Italian + Indian couple sharing our travels. Instead of ignoring them, we’re putting the spotlight on hate to show the world how ugly it really is. We’ll keep loving, keep travelling, and keep sharing. Because love > hate. Always. If you’ve ever faced hate just for who you are, this one’s for you,” she wrote.
In the clip, Eli displayed the comment that pushed her to speak up. It read, “Sad! All you found is Indian guy? They are good for nothing.”
She then revealed the profile of the person who had written it, which showed she was an Indian woman herself.

Internet Offers Support
Eli’s post gathered significant attention online, and many viewers came forward to back her.
One user commented, “Good on you. I’m an Indian woman and fully support you calling out these haters.”
Another added, “I stand with you! Always stand with your man – screw what the rest thinks. They stereotype the whole group since they can’t get the right one, but I’m glad you love your man to stand for him and yourself.”
“No amount of personal experiences should give the liberty to speak about someone else’s personal life, at least online. You found another human you love, and who loves you back, that’s all that matters, irrespective of race. Cultural differences are normal and can be handled by the couple. I send all my blessings and love to you both,” someone else said.
A Different Perspective
But not everyone agreed with Eli’s way of handling the troll. Some users felt she should have responded with more kindness.
A person wrote, “I don’t think it was a personal attack on you specifically. She seems to be just tired of her experiences with Indian men and let out her frustration in a not very pleasant way. She took the liberty BECAUSE she is Indian. Cut her some slack and be kind, please.”
“I don’t feel it’s a hate comment… Maybe she is trying to share her experience,” read another comment.
Positive Side Of Social Media
Not all stories around intercultural marriages online are about hate or negativity. In August, Kseniia Chawra posted a video on Instagram where she expressed her love and admiration for her Indian husband. Her sweet gesture received praise and admiration from the online users.
