The isolated heavy rain the State has been witnessing is likely to continue for a few more days with the prevailing twin weather systems over the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. North Kerala is likely to receive moderate to heavy showers on Sunday (October 26, 2025) triggered by the depressions over the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. A yellow alert has been issued for Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram and Thrissur on Sunday, warning of isolated heavy rain. According to a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday, the depression over the east-central Arabian Sea remained practically stationary for most part of the day, and the system is likely to move north-westwards across the east-central Arabian Sea during the next 24 hours. On the other hand, the depression over the Bay of Bengal is likely to take the shape of a cyclone by Monday and then intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by Tuesday morning. The storm is likely to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam around Kakinada during the evening or night of Tuesday as a severe cyclonic storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph. The moderate to heavy showers in different parts of Kerala influenced by the systems will continue until both systems dissipate.
