Member of Parliament Captain Brijesh Chowta on October 30, 2025, delivered a powerful address at the ETNow.in Business Conclave & Awards 2025 – Mangaluru Edition, highlighting the city’s entrepreneurial spirit, its model of inclusive development, and its growing relevance in India’s economic future. Speaking at the conclave, which brought together top business leaders, policymakers, and industry experts, Chowta said Mangaluru has long been a hub of enterprise and innovation, and is now poised to play a bigger role in India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation. “I always say Mangaluru is a land of possibilities. It is time we realise those possibilities and work to unlock our true potential,” he said. “Our Prime Minister reminds us often , you don’t have to wait for the right opportunity. Every moment is the right moment.” Region With a Legacy of Setting National Benchmarks MP Captain Brijesh outlined how coastal Karnataka has historically shaped sectors critical to India’s growth, recalling that in the 1960s and 70s the region emerged as a national model for banking and cooperative finance. During the period of land reforms, Mangaluru again led by example, demonstrating what genuine social inclusion could look like. Over time, its people carried this spirit across India and beyond , building successful businesses in Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Dubai, particularly in hospitality and small enterprises. Today, as India stands as the world’s fourth-largest economy, poised to become the third, and moves toward a sustainable, well-governed, globally competitive future, he stressed that the city has a pivotal role to play in the nation’s journey. “2025 is a crucial moment. Many things are falling in place. Mangaluru has an important role to play as India marches towards becoming a developed nation,” he said. Congratulating the award winners, MP Captain Brijesh urged them to become ambassadors of Mangaluru’s spirit, noting that their achievements would inspire many more Mangaloreans to follow their path and showcase the region’s pride to India and the world.
