Fire Country fans will recall that Jake had accepted another job before Vince’s (Billy Burke) death because of fear he wouldn’t move up the ranks. When Vince died, Jake was working hard to earn the position of Battalion Chief. Since that didn’t happen, could Jake be making another rash decision? Fire Country fans don’t need to worry about Jake; he’s not going anywhere just yet. Calloway spoke about Jake’s future with Us Weekly amid the Station 42 rank shake-up. “He’s going to be OK. Because you see how he takes on humility at the end of the episode and he realizes we need to come together on this new problem,” the actor shared, referring to the mystery note that Eve (Jules Latimer) found in Vince’s guitar case. Calloway went on to add, “This new problem is a saving grace for the trio, because while they all deal with these different things in their own right, this is something that’s unifying the three of them in order to handle it together.” Related: ‘Fire Country’ Star Sends Strong Message to Fans ‘Angry’ Over Vince’s Death Jordan Calloway Weighs In On Jake’s Battalion Chief Snub on Fire Country While there will be plenty to keep Jake busy between fighting fires and uncovering this new mystery, Calloway admitted it was still a huge betrayal for Jake to be passed over as Battalion Chief. “It feels like a betrayal, but then on the other end of it, there’s a redeeming quality when he’s talking with Eve and he realizes, I did miss the mark because Bode isn’t the problem and I wasn’t there stepping up for him. So he learns this lesson at a huge cost, at a huge, massive cost, something that he desired and wanted, but he learns this lesson,” he expressed to TV Insider. The episode was extra special to Calloway, as he also directed it—a career first for him. Calloway was grateful to be given the chance to be behind the camera as his character was dealt a major life blow. Jake will be sticking around Fire Country, and that’s good news for fans. There have been many changes so far this season: Vince died, Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila) left, and Audrey moved to a different fire station. Fire Country airs Fridays at 9/8c on CBS.
