After three seasons of anticipation, Belly finally chose Conrad over Jeremiah in The Summer I Turned Pretty. Their reunion in the season 3 finale featured a passionate, intimate sequence that fans had been eagerly awaiting. At the finale screening in Paris on September 17, the cast admitted they were just as awestruck as the audience.
Episode 11 opens with Conrad arriving at Belly’s doorstep in Paris a day before her birthday. After a dinner with friends, the couple stroll under the moonlight and dance at Belly’s favourite spot. The mood then turns romantic, with the two sharing their first kiss before getting intimate at Belly’s apartment. Adding to the sensuality of the scene, Taylor Swift’s song Dress from her album Reputation plays in the background.

“Oh, I just knew that the walk out from the bathroom, I was like, ‘Thanks, guys. Go Belly,’” Lola Tung, who plays Belly, jokingly told Entertainment Tonight. She shared that she had left the room when the intimate scene played on the screen and then returned to see the audience’s reaction in real time.
Her co-star Gavin Casalegno, who plays Jeremiah, had his own way of handling the scene. “I was like this the whole time,” he said, covering his eyes with his hands. “I was like, I’m not watching this. Jenny, how long does this go? I was like, checking my watch,” he added.
Meanwhile, Jackie Chung, who portrays Belly’s mother Laurel, said with a laugh, “Belly’s real mom was sitting behind me, and she was covering my eyes. She was like, ‘We moms don’t need this.’”
Gavin admitted that he couldn’t help but peek at the scene, saying, “I kept peeking. I think I did that about three or four times… I was like, ‘It’s still going!”
Actor Sean Kaufman, who plays Belly’s on-screen brother Steven, shared how Gavin reacted, telling everyone that he was like, “Is it over?”
However, Christopher Briney, who plays Conrad, was unfazed. For him, “It was another day at work.” Lola agreed to what he said and explained, “I think it’s more nerves about getting the beats right, and telling the story right and making sure you hit whatever mark you need to do that.” The 27-year-old actor added, “Right, and not block light,” which prompted Lola to reply, “It’s so technical.”

The story of Belly and Conrad isn’t just over yet. Just hours after the season 3 finale, Prime Video confirmed that a feature film is in the works revolving around The Summer I Turned Pretty storyline. Except for the announcement, the streamer hasn’t revealed any other details.
