Ireland rugby ticket prices slammed ahead of Autumn Internationals at Aviva Stadium

Fans have been venting their anger over the price of tickets for Ireland’s upcoming rugby international fixtures in Dublin. Andy Farrell’s side face Japan, Australia and South Africa at the Aviva Stadium next month following a clash with the All Blacks in Chicago. The IRFU released a small number of additional tickets for the three Dublin fixtures on Wednesday. However, the ticket prices have left supporters furious, with the cheapest ticket for the South Africa game costing €156.60, while it is €126.60 for Australia and €81.60 for Japan. The prices, along with the sky-high hotel rates in Dublin, are putting many fans off attending games at the Aviva, with a number of them voicing their frustrations online. One person wrote: “Honestly don’t think I’ll ever be going to an international game again, I could have a holiday abroad for nearly the same price it would cost me to travel up from the west of Ireland and stay the night.” Another commented: “Looked at ticket prices, turning genuine people off attending international games.” Someone else said: “Ridiculous prices , I checked out ticket prices for France v South Africa and Australia at Stade cheapest prices are €78 for the boks game and I think €69 for the wallabies , I reckon those matches will be vastly superior to the ones in Aviva.” One other comment read: “Trying to keep kids interested in rugby, yet pricing families out of attending international games.” The ticket prices are considerably higher than for other sporting events taking place at the Aviva, with prices for the Ireland football team’s clash with Armenia next Tuesday starting from €55, while they begin at €27.95 for next month’s FAI Cup final between Shamrock Rovers and Cork, which takes place the day after the Japan game. Meanwhile, tickets for next weekend’s URC clash between Leinster and Munster at Croke Park are available from just €22.95.
