Ireland, All Blacks rugby rematch in Chicago: What to know

Rugby is taking over Chicago this weekend. Saturday, Nov. 1, Ireland and the New Zealand All Blacks will return to Soldier Field for an International Rugby Rematch. The game will be the second time the two international titans have competed in Chicago -- in 2016, the two met in a clash that resulted in Ireland defeating the All Blacks "for the first time in their 111-year history," organizers said. "Since that moment, the teams have played each other 10 times, winning 5 each and establishing one of the great modern rivalries in rugby," according to USA Rugby. The historic rematch between the two takes place at 3 p.m. Saturday, with tickets still available. "The 2016 encounter at Soldier Field is one of the greatest moments in Irish Rugby history, and the rivalry that has grown between our two teams since then is a testament to the quality, passion, and the respect that Ireland and New Zealand have for each other,” Kevin Potts, CEO of IRFU said in a release. “We hold the New Zealand Rugby Union in the highest regard; the All Blacks have been the embodiment of sporting excellence for generations, and we have the utmost admiration for their outstanding contribution to our game. As we look forward to November 1, we know rugby fans from around the world will once again come together to witness an unforgettable clash of two outstanding teams." After the game, Chicago rugby fans can attend the Ireland Vs. All Blacks Ruckus After Party at Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Hall, featuring special guest Chicago Fire star Dermot Mulroney. Local According to organizers, the after party will feature live entertainment, a raffle, food, drinks and more. The event takes place from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. at 1340 W. Washington St., with tickets starting at $25.
