Iran parliamentary panel to arrive today

ISLAMABAD: On the special invitation of the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, a parliamentary delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, led by Dr Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis-e-Shura-ye-Islam), will arrive here today (Wednesday) for an official three-day visit. The visit of the Iranian parliamentary delegation will further strengthen parliamentary relations between Pakistan and Iran and provide the two brotherly neighbouring countries with an opportunity to exchange views on a joint strategy to promote peace, development, and economic cooperation in the region. During the visit, the Iranian parliamentary delegation will call on the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Chairman of the Senate, the Speaker of the National Assembly, members of the Pakistan-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group, and representatives of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI). The delegation will also hold a meeting with the Pakistan-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group, where both sides will hold in-depth discussions on enhancing cooperation in trade, energy, border management, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people contacts. The visit of Speaker Dr Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf will not only further consolidate the historic and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Iran but will also mark a significant step toward strengthening regional stability, mutual trust, and shared prosperity. The visit will usher in a new era of effective inter-parliamentary engagement and mutual consultation between the two nations. During their stay in Pakistan, the Iranian delegation will also visit Lahore and Karachi. In Lahore, the delegation will pay homage at the mausoleum of Allama Muhammad Iqbal and meet with the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab. Later, in Karachi, the delegation will pay respects at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and hold meetings with the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh and members of the city’s business community.
