IPS Bhullar Case : CBI Carries Out Fresh Raids In Punjab

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday carried out searches at seven locations in Patiala and Ludhiana in a fresh case registered against suspended IPS officer Harcharan Singh Bhullar. Bhullar was arrested last month allegedly for taking a bribe. The anti-corruption federal probe agency has filed a disproportionate assets case against Bhullar after over Rs 7 crores were seized from premises linked to him. "In a Disproportionate Assets case registered against Harcharan Singh Bhullar, IPS (DIG rank), Punjab Cadre, the Central Bureau of Investigation conducted coordinated search operations on 4th November at seven premises situated in Patiala and Ludhiana districts," the CBI said in a statement on Tuesday. "These premises were linked to persons suspected of acting as benamidars or associates for channeling and investing the ill-gotten wealth of the accused public servant into immovable properties and related business ventures," the CBI added. Tuesday's searches were carried out at village Baukar Gujiran, Tehsil Samrala, Ludhiana, village Kalas Khurd, Tehsil Samrala Ludhiana and at two locations in Patiala.The CBI has claimed it seized ₹20.5 lakh, digital devices, and over 50 property-related documents, including sale deeds. The CBI second FIR filed against Bhullar in the disproportionate assets case alleges that during searches conducted on 16-17th October, the probe agency recovered: * Rs7.36 crore in cash. * Rs 2.32 crore worth of gold jewellery and silver items. * 26 expensive branded watches. In addition, the investigation team also seized several immovable property documents, which include: * Two flats in Chandigarh. * Approximately 150 acres of agricultural land in Mohali, Hoshiarpur, and Ludhiana in Punjab. "Expensive vehicles like Mercedes, Audi, Innova, and Fortuner were found in the name of Bhullar and his family. A balance of around Rs 2.95 crore was also found in his bank accounts and Fixed Deposits," said officials . Bhullar is still in judicial custody.
