IPL Chairman Confirms BCCI Will Announce New India Sponsor 'Within 2-3 Weeks'

Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Arun Dhumal has announced that the new lead sponsor for the Indian cricket team will be unveiled within the next two to three weeks.
The quest for a new jersey sponsor began after Dream11 ended its contract due to the enactment of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill 2025.
What Happened To India Sponsor?
Team India is currently playing the Asia Cup without a lead sponsor. Earlier in September, the BCCI started the process to find a new sponsor by issuing an invitation for expressions of interest for the lead sponsorship rights of the national team. The deadline for purchasing this invitation is September 12, and bids must be submitted by September 16. The Asia Cup runs from September 9 to September 28.
The Indian government’s recent passage of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, which bans real-money gaming, necessitated a new sponsor since Dream11’s primary business was in real-money gaming. Consequently, Dream11 informed the BCCI of its need to withdraw from the sponsorship deal, which included an exit clause for such government regulations. Dream11’s contract was valid until 2026 and valued at 44 million USD (approximately Rs 358 crore), according to reports in the media.
When Will India Have New Sponsor?
“I think what is done is done (on Dream 11’s exit). I would not like to talk about that. But we have started the ball rolling as far as the next sponsor is concerned. I am sure within 2-3 weeks we will get to know that,” Dhumal told reporters on Friday, on the sidelines of PlayCom 2025 summit.
In addition to finding a new sponsor, the BCCI will elect new office-bearers at its AGM, scheduled for September 28 at the board’s headquarters in Mumbai. “For sure, we have the nomination starting in a week’s time. So we will get to know. We will have a better picture as to who is going to be the next BCCI chief,” added Dhumal.
