Iowa State lands commitment from French center Dorian Rinaldo-Komlan

Dorian Rinaldo-Komlan, a 6-foot-10 center in the 2026 class, has committed to Iowa State, he told Rivals. Originally from France, Komlan came to the U.S. to continue his basketball development, enrolling at Spire Academy, under highly regarded coach Kevin Boyle. During the 2024-25 season, Komlan played for for the Limoges Espoirs U21 team in France, where he averaged 11.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, shooting just under 55% from the field. Kolmlan carried that momentum into the Adidas NextGen EuroLeague earlier this year, putting up similar numbers with averages of 10.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. Komlan isn’t yet ranked nationally, largely because he only recently arrived in the U.S. and hasn’t had the chance to play in front of scouts Komlan on his commitment to Iowa State Dorian Rinaldo-Komlan went in-depth on his decision to choose the Cyclones. “They recruited me in a way that was development based. All conversations were about development. For me, that’s the most important thing. It was a consistent theme with Coach TJ and Coach Schmidt.” What led to his trust in the Iowa State staff? “The coaches really did their homework on me and took the time to get to know me, my circle and my family. Coach Schmidt visited often to Spire. My mom had a great feeling and her instincts are very good too. If they said something they backed it. I did my homework.” In his own words, what type of player is Iowa State getting in Komlan? “First thing I bring is energy on the defensive side. I hate getting scored on. I can defend the 4 and 5. I guess Swiss army, modern 4 man on offense. My slashing ability in the half court, rim running in full court. Once the 3 ball is better, that will be the next level.” He has a message for Iowa State fans. “Cyclone fans are used to a winning culture the last 5 years and I want to only add to that. I’m not from the U.S, I’m from France so I’m still learning the system of the NCAA but one thing I learned fast is that Iowa State an incredible fan base, that was obvious on the visit. Their energy and enthusiasm was amazing to see.”
