Apple barely rolled out iOS 26.1 yesterday and yet the Cupertino-based tech giant is already gearing up for its next major chapter in AI. The next big leap, iOS 27, is going up to be one of the most ambitious AI upgrades we’ve seen on iPhone so far. While he hasn’t dropped a detailed feature list yet, the wording alone suggests something significant, not just polishing, but expanding AI across the system in a more meaningful way. Think smarter Siri, deeper app control, more intuitive context awareness, and likely more of those generative features that can work both on-device and in the cloud. Apple’s hybrid approach to AI seems here to stay and next year could be when it really starts feeling mature. Interestingly, users haven’t been blown away by the first wave of Apple Intelligence in iOS 26, even though Apple did ship over 20 AI features. With iOS 27, Apple looks ready to go for a more dramatic jump. According to Gurman, the update will introduce: Sharper natural language understanding, better app-level control, faster and more context-aware responses. Basically, Siri is finally catching up to the AI assistants we all wished existed back when we first said “Hey Siri” a decade ago. The upgrade will roll out in beta first, so early testers are likely to get a taste before everyone else.
