AN Inverness publisher has been chosen to feature in a national showcase of small businesses. Ablekids Press, which publishes multilingual picture books and creates heritage trails suitable for all ages, also has a bookshop located on the city’s Market Brae Steps. It has now been chosen to be part of 2025’s Smallbiz100 line up, counting down the days to the annual Small Business Saturday showcase on December 6, the most successful small business campaign in the UK which encourages the public to support small firms. “Discovering my business had been selected as one of the SmallBiz100 2025 was one of the best days of my life,” Pauline Mackay, founder of AbleKids Press, said. “I feel incredibly grateful to Inverness BID for telling me about this unique campaign and to the SmallBiz100 judges who decided a small Highland publisher and bookseller was worthy to be called inspirational.” AbleKids Press is to be profiled by the campaign on November 3. “Small businesses are the nation’s favourite businesses - bringing immeasurable value to our local communities and powering the wider economy,“ Michelle Ovens, director of Small Business Saturday UK, said. “Firms like Ablekids Press in this year's SmallBiz100 represent some of the UK’s most loved small businesses.
