Experienced Red Force all-rounder Vikash Mohan will lead the Trinidad and Tobago team at the 20th Bolivarian Games in Lima and Ayacucho, Peru, from November 22 to December 7, as the two-island republic prepares to showcase its cricketing talent on the wider multi-sport international stage. The tournament marks the first time T&T will compete in the Bolivarian Games, a multi-sport event organised by the Bolivarian Sports Organisation (ODEBO) in honour of Latin American liberator Simón Bolívar. TTCB president Azim Bassarath confirmed that a 15-man squad and four officials will make the trip, describing the invitation as “a major opportunity” for the country’s players. “We were invited to participate, and a team of 15 players and four officials will be going to the Games,” Bassarath said. “However, the Games take place during the same time as the Super50 tournament,” he noted, while pointing out that the opportunity for more players to get to showcase their worth at the regional and international level. The CG United Super50 Cup will be held in Trinidad from November 19 to 27. He explained that the scheduling overlap presents a “unique chance for emerging cricketers to gain exposure at a high level”. “It will give us an opportunity to bring a group of young players who will be the next generation of Trinidad and Tobago cricketers,” he said. “We welcome the opportunity to participate and we are very grateful for the invitation.” While the squad features a mix of youth and experience, Bassarath noted it is not an age-group team. “This will be a T&T team, and there were no restrictions in terms of age of the players,” he clarified. The 31-year-old Mohan has played 11 first-class matches for the Red Force and is the most experienced player in the line-up while Andrew Rambaran was a standout performer in the recent TTCB 50-Over Cup. Bassarath also sees the event as a building block towards cricket’s growing presence in major multi-spot international competitions. “Yes, it is a first step towards that,” he stated. “I think in 2027 the Pan American Games will have cricket as one of the sports, and this is about putting things in place for that. It will be something of a prelude to the Pan American Games.” The TTCB boss said they are working closely with the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee to ensure all requirements are met. “We’re working with the TTOC to make sure we meet all the deadlines for the competition,” he added. Cricket West Indies (CWI) president Dr Kishore Shallow had earlier confirmed that Barbados, T&T, Jamaica, and Anguilla will represent the Caribbean at the Games. The selections were based on performances in the most recent Super50 Cup, with Anguilla qualifying as champions of the Leeward Islands T20 tournament. “The four teams—Barbados, T&T, Jamaica, and Anguilla—were picked using the results of the last Super50 tournament.” T&T Squad for the 20th Bolivarian Games (November 22–December 7, 2025) Vikash Mohan (captain), Andrew Rambaran (vice-captain), Shatrughan Rambaran, Kamil Pooran, Daniel Williams, Crystian Thurton, Kyle Ramdoo, Ricky Jaipaul, Mikkel Govia, Jesse Bootan, Sameer Ali, Shaaron Lewis, Joshua Davis, Justin Mannick, Dejorn Charles.
