Insider suggests NASCAR suspend Sam Mayer for wrecking Jeb Burton after the checkered flag

NASCAR analyst Jordan Bianchi recently sat down with Freddie Kraft on the Door Bumper Clear podcast and talked about Sam Mayer and Jeb Burton's crash at Martinsville Speedway. The collision between the two Xfinity Series drivers escalated the fight, which led to an ugly on-track move. The situation arose when Mayer bumped Burton during the first stage of the IAA and Ritchie Bros. 250 held on Saturday, October 25. The Jordan Anderson Racing driver sought to retaliate against the Haas Factory team driver for bumping him. Burton got the chance and made contact with Mayer on the final lap of the 253-lap race to move him out of his way.Sam Mayer was not happy about the move and intentionally sent Burton into the outside walls after the checkered flag was waved. Following that, the NASCAR expert Jordan Bianchi suggested that the governing body should issue a week's suspension for Mayer. He explained [00:40 onward]:"This is classic short track racing. I have no issue with this. What I take exception with is what happened after the checkered flag, and that, in my opinion, should probably earn Sam Mayer a week off."He added:"I love this; we want guys to speak their minds, we want personalities we want them to be angry. I don't, man. I hear you, but the has the sh** factor no it factor. Like I was actually one of those saying like did he work on that?" Did he workshop that in the car, like under a caution?"Jeb Burton finished the 253-lap race in sixth place behind Aric Almirola. Meanwhile, Sam Mayer ended up the Martinsville Speedway race one spot behind Burton in P7. On the other hand, Taylor Gray clinched his maiden Xfinity Series victory."We never got the chance to sit down and talk": When Sam Mayer opened up about his incident with Kyle LarsonIn March 2025, Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson competed in all three races during the Homestead-Miami weekend. He won the Cup and Truck Series events, but the last restart during the Xfinity Series took his chance of securing a victory. Reflecting on the incident, Sam Mayer recounted his experience of racing with Larson. With 16 laps to go to the finish line, the Hendrick Motorsports driver had a 16-second lead over Mayer. However, Taylor Gray's spin resulted in a last-minute restart and altered everything. Larson took the inside lane while Mayer tailed him from the outside. Following that, the duo made contact and cost the former NASCAR Cup Series champion his win.Sam Mayer reminisced about the moment and told Stephen Stumpf:"I mean, we kind of both know what each other was thinking. We never got the chance to sit down and talk or anything like that. But, I mean, it's just part of racing. I mean, I disagree with, obviously, how it went down, but unfortunately for both of us, that's just part of racing." [00:10 onwards]JR Motorsports driver Justin Allgaier won the race after Larson spun out and crossed the finish line in fourth place. Meanwhile, Sam Mayer was 0.348 seconds behind Allgaier and ended the 201-lap race as the runner-up.
