A couple have created an enchanting Harry Potter-themed Airbnb which is now available to stay in for £150 a night. Found near the set of the new Harry Potter TV series, which is currently being filmed in Devon and Cornwall, The Wizards Cauldron is nestled in the Cornish countryside. It has been brought to life by husband and wife Stewart, 63, and Lucy Farmer, 61, who are Harry Potter fans. Having relocated from Kent three years ago, the couple dreamt of opening a unique Airbnb that would showcase their passion for the film franchise. Lucy revealed that the Airbnb has welcomed guests from across the globe, and has even been the setting for marriage proposals. With the upcoming Harry Potter TV series, based on JK Rowling's novels, being filmed nearby, Lucy anticipates an influx of film fans coming to stay in their Airbnb. "It is lovely to have that down here and to use some of the beautiful places we have down here," Lucy said. "It is very good for the south West. Anything that brings tourists down and helps the economy will be well received." The couple spent four months creating the quirky stay before they began advertising it in March 2024. They meticulously watched all the Harry Potter films to ensure the décor was flawless. "We have always thought that a Harry Potter Airbnb would be a good idea because it is so popular," Lucy shared. "Our sons grew up with it and it is something that my husband and I watch every year. "We thought we would do something completely different. It is not treading on anyone's toes who run an Airbnb round and about." As soon as fans walk by, they'll spot details in the living room that mirror Hagrid's home. The property also boasts books, games and a complete set of Harry Potter DVDs for extra entertainment. "You notice that Hermione drinks out of a certain cup so I tried to get a cup and saucer that would match that," Lucy explained. "There are some things we can't have in there because he has swords hanging down and all sorts of sharp tools and we can't have that with people staying. "We tried to put more gentle stuff hanging up like watering cans and cages. "The living room is based on Hagrid's Hut but because in the films you don't get to see Hagrid's bedroom. So it's got all little bits of nods to different films in there. "Behind the bed it is sort of pink and you've got some of the Professor Umbridge kitten plates. "People can look around and think 'this is from that film, that is from that film'." With Harry Potter being a global phenomenon, it meant that visitors from all over the world would be interested in staying at this Airbnb. Lucy revealed they have already had guests from Australia, America, Portugal, Spain, France and across the UK. "Some people have included it into a tour. It has been a big compliment that they have included us in a Harry Potter tour," she said. "They say it is amazing the attention to detail we have put in which is a real compliment. "Because you see it everyday you think 'has it lost its magic' but visitors are blown away with it which is lovely. "I have had a few people asking if I was a set designer. "We've had a few marriage proposals here and a few people have come on their honeymoon. "It has been a wonderful experience and far better than we could possibly have hoped for." Lucy mentioned she is "looking forward" to the upcoming series. "I'm going to be open minded because you've grown up 20 odd years with certain actors," Lucy explained. "We all loved Richard Harris but he sadly passed away and then you worry about Michael Gambon because he did such a good job. "I'm sure they wouldn't have chosen John Lithgow unless they thought he was going to do a very good job as Dumbledore. "There will be lots of changes but we have got to embrace it really. I'm sure it will be well worth watching." Lucy added: "I'm hoping they don't change the set of Hagrid's Hut to much because I will have to do a lot of changes but there should be lots of different bits brought in which will be very interesting." The series is anticipated to debut in 2027. Prices at The Wizards Cauldron start at £150 per night and £175 at the weekend. Sign up to our Manchester property newsletter here
