Injured Superstar Blasts WWE for Controversial Decision

Ridge Holland recently shared a candid statement regarding his employment status with WWE, expressing frustration over his contract situation. On October 13, Holland revealed that WWE officials informed him that his contract will not be renewed. The contract is set to expire on November 14, 2025. The “SmackDown” star is currently out of action with a significant injury. He is expected to miss approximately six more months of in-ring action after suffering a Lisfranc injury. This injury occurred in September during a set of TNA “iMPACT!” tapings, where Holland was working as part of the crossover between WWE and TNA. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Holland posted a statement detailing his difficult situation. He expressed his financial and personal stress regarding the company’s decision. “I never thought I’d not be able to pay my mortgage. I feel like I’ve just been hung out to dry after getting injured working for another company on behalf of WWE”. He continued, highlighting the timing of the decision in relation to his injury status. “Add to that my contract not being renewed knowing that I wouldn’t be able to wrestle for 7 months. This is brutal”. Holland did acknowledge that WWE is covering his medical expenses related to the injury. However, he stated that this is not enough given the circumstances. More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match (via WWE.com) “Yes they are taking care of the surgery and physical therapy but let’s be honest, that’s the bare minimum after what we sacrifice for the company”. He also revealed he is dealing with another serious health concern. “Plus the possibility of having to get my neck fused too. Talk about getting totally f*****”. 🤦🏻‍♂️ pic.twitter.com/jf2mbvm4e9— Luke Menzies (@RidgeWWE) November 4, 2025 With his WWE contract set to expire on November 14th, Holland (real name Luke Menzies) will officially become a free agent in just over a week. He has already been announced for his first post-WWE appearance. Salvatore Wrestling Promotions confirmed that Menzies will be appearing at the GCW “Dream On Fan Slam” on November 22nd in East Rutherford, New Jersey, for a meet and greet, though he remains unable to compete physically due to his ongoing recovery from both the foot surgery and the potential neck fusion.
