Greetings, Dear Reader,
Here we are again, State of the Day, where I strip the euphemisms off the day’s news and give it to you straight, no ice, no mixer.
*Sniiiiiff* uh-huh, that smell is undeniable …
DO YOU SMELL THAT?
The unreality started instantly.
Charlie Kirk was probably still alive, and Dems were calling for gun control. The crueler, more rotten core of the party apparatus was saying Kirk deserved it because of his position on gun control.
(As if I need to point out that gun-wielding criminals should make you more supportive of 2A, rather than less.)
Then we learned Tyler Robinson used a bolt-action rifle. “Assault weapons” bans wouldn’t touch that kind of gun.
Sensing they had lost the 2A argument, an opportunistic left instead started spinning a new lie: Tyler Robinson, the guy whose live-in “girlfriend” has a penis, was actually MAGA.
Their evidence for this relied on more rotten conventional wisdom (see: bigotry) in the Democrat Party. Robinson’s family are “white people” who “loved God” and Donald Trump.
They slapped that on the table as if it were a full house.
So of course more evidence comes out, this time text messages to his transgender boyfriend that plainly showed Robinson was motivated by abject, politically derived hatred for widely accepted conservative political views.
Namely, that men cannot declare themselves women.
Feeling their unreality dissolve, they rapidly set about a new unreality: Robinson is actually kind of like a modern-day Romeo.
ABC’s Matt Gutman, in his reporting on the texts, described them as “very touching” and an “intimate portrait of this relationship with his roommate, who was transitioning, calling him ‘my love’ and ‘I want to protect you my love’ so there was this duality.”
“Duality”? What in the hell is this, Gutman, a college poetry class?
Not to be outdone, Montel Williams continued the star-crossed charade on CNN’s Abby Phillip.
“This was a child, a kid. It was probably his first real relationship, and someone was disparaging the person that he loved,” Montel Williams said.
To recap: the gun control gambit crumbled. He’s actually MAGA crumbled. And now we have the final boss of the liberal worldview: We need to venerate, humanize and empathize with criminal terrorists because insults justify murder.
He did it for love! He was just a kid!
The reality is he was a grown man radicalized in a rotten left-wing soup that gave him the permission structure needed to commit violence against conservatives. He knew he’d be venerated even before he launched his plan, and he wasn’t wrong.
Robin Newberry, an epidemiologist at Clemson, posted to Facebook: “In a world full of Charlie Kirks and Brian Thompsons, be a Tyler Robinson or a Luigi Mangione.”
Newberry has since been let go, but I couldn’t have asked for a more succinct example of the rot at the core of the political left. Clemson is a college in South Carolina. It’s regarded as one of the “more conservative” state schools. It has faculty members telling kids they should aspire to terroristic attacks on their own countrymen.
Kids go to college to learn a marketable skill, and instead they’re learning grievance. The smell of this rot is overwhelming.
If you’ve been reading my recent newsletters, you know I’ve been advocating for a complete plumbing of communications from state universities and other schools that take public money. If that is what they’re posting to Facebook, imagine what discourse has been like behind closed doors. They’re charged with educating the bulk of young Americans seeking higher education, and their stated aspirations are often at odds with reality.
In a world of successful, productive and influential fathers of bountiful families, be the guys who kill those guys? In America, that’s more corrosive reality inversion than calling a man a woman.
We’ll see if Trump has the guts.
WHAT I’M READING
As usual, Scott Jennings tries to inject reality into the discussion.
Why are these people still employed?
John Kennedy is the Zinger In Chief.
