INEC promotes 471 junior staff

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has promoted 471 of its junior members of staff.

Sam Olumekun, the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, disclosed this on Thursday.

Olumekun, in a statement, said the 2025 promotion list of the 471 deserving junior staff (GL 03-06) was approved by the commission at its regular weekly meeting held on Thursday, chaired by the Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.

He said that the promotion was approved on the recommendation of the Appointment, Promotion and Disciplinary Committee (APDC) in line with the Staff Conditions of Service.

“A total of 515 staff were shortlisted for the exercise, out of which 214 met the requirements for promotion to GL 7, 134 to GL6, 106 to GL5 and 17 to GL4,” he said.

Olumekun said that the promotion of junior staff members concluded the first phase of the exercise, stating that next is the promotion of senior staff, which had also commenced in earnest.
