Indonesia Sets 2026 Hajj Cost at Rp87.4 Million per Pilgrim

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government and the House of Representatives have set the average Hajj Worship Implementation Cost (BPIH) for 2026 at Rp87.4 million per regular pilgrim. This amount is Rp2 million lower than the BPIH in 2025, which was Rp89.4 million."Commission VIII of the House of Representatives and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah have agreed upon the average BPIH for the year 2026 to be Rp87,409,365 per regular pilgrim," announced Chair of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, Marwan Dasopang, during a working meeting at the House of Representatives complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.The final BPIH figure is also Rp1 million lower than the initial proposal of Rp88.4 million submitted by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. The decision was reached today through a joint committee meeting. From the total BPIH, each pilgrim is required to pay Rp54,193,807 as the direct Pilgrimage Travel Cost (Bipih). The remaining amount, approximately Rp33,215,000, will be covered by government subsidies. This subsidy comes from the benefits managed by the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH). Consequently, pilgrims will bear 62 percent of the total BPIH, while government subsidies will cover the remaining 38 percent of the costs. The 2026 Hajj season is estimated to begin on April 18, 2026, which coincides with the 1st of Dzulqa'dah 1447 Hijri. The government and the House of Representatives have been actively discussing the implementation of the Hajj for the 2026 departure year, including the pilgrim quota and overall costs.Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, specified that domestic preparations include verifying the eligibility of all registered pilgrims, selecting air transportation vendors, initiating the recruitment of hajj service officers (PPIH) for various domestic and Saudi Arabia placements, and coordinating the disbursement for specific hajj pilgrims.Ervana Trikarinaputri contributed to this report.Editor's Choice: All About Indonesia's 2026 Hajj Season: From Quotas to CostClick here to get the latest news updates from Tempo on Google News
