Commuting to Yanam region of the Union Territory will become easy from Sunday with the lone operator from Puducherry Airport, IndiGo Airlines, including Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh, as another destination for its daily services from here. Puducherry Airport Director K. Rajasekhar Reddy said the airliner has added Rajahmundry, a town close to Yanam, as another sector for its daily operations from Puducherry. “As part of the operator’s seasonal transition, the airliner will now start scheduled services from Puducherry to Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Rajahmundry on all days of the week. The flight will commence its daily service from Rajahmundry to Hyderabad, Puducherry and Bengaluru,” he said in a release. The enhanced connectivity would help people travel to Yanam faster. The flight service to the neighbouring State of Andhra Pradesh will help officials of the Puducherry administration reach the enclave of Yanam without much delay, he said. “These services are designed to offer seamless travel options and greater flexibility for passengers, aligning with the Airports Authority of India’s commitment to enhance connectivity, affordability and travel experience across the regions. The initiative is expected to significantly contribute to tourism development and economic growth of the Union Territory. Passengers should check with the airline for bookings and updated flight information,” the release said.
