India’s Hydrogen & Semiconductor Race: How a Pune-based firm is building the systems that make it possible

Amid India’s push for Atmanirbharta, Pune-based Shavo Technologies is supplying a critical component used in fighter jets, submarines, and semiconductors. The company, once known for supplying aerospace-grade fluid and pressure control systems, now provides hydrogen refueling, defense testing, and semiconductor manufacturing. The engineering firm, set up in 1960, supplies pressure regulation panels, dispenser setups, and high-pressure fuel control systems for hydrogen refueling stations. A key project includes NTPC’s hydrogen station in Leh, one of the highest-altitude installations of its kind in India. From pneumatics to precision engineeringShavo started as part of the Shavo Group with a focus on industrial pneumatics. Over three decades ago, it moved into high-pressure control systems for defense labs, rocket engine testing, and military as well as commercial diving. That experience has become relevant for India’s push into clean mobility and hydrogen use.“Shavo was never built to be a mass producer. We’ve always been about solving engineering problems that require thought, discipline, and deep application understanding,” said Rushil Shah, Managing Director at Shavo Technologies. “When we started supplying to aerospace and defense in the 1980s, we were working with mission-critical environments where there was no room for error. That same discipline is now being applied in hydrogen, where a system failure can mean downtime or even worse a safety incident. The sectors are different, but the mindset is the same.”Reliable systems for emerging industriesHe added, “There’s a lot of excitement around emerging industries, but what often gets overlooked is the infrastructure that makes them viable. Whether it’s a fueling system at 11,000 feet, an oxygen system for Ganganyan or a high-purity gas panel for a semiconductor chip-making unit, our focus is to build & supply the most reliable systems with the best value, allowing us to build trust across sectors.”Facilities and partnershipsThe company operates a 12,000 sq. ft. manufacturing and service unit in Bengaluru and a 7,500 sq. ft. corporate and technology center in Pune. Its 55-member team works with global gas and pressure control technology companies to assemble, integrate, and test systems locally. These solutions are designed for hydrogen, space, and semiconductor industries that require strict performance standards.Live EventsExpanding into semiconductorsShavo has also become active in the semiconductor supply chain. It designs and delivers high-purity gas systems and purification solutions for chip fabrication and cleanroom environments. The firm’s current focus areas include hydrogen refueling stations, semiconductor manufacturing, and defense engineering.Add as a Reliable and Trusted News Source Add Now!
