New Delhi: In a major move to enhance passenger convenience and meet the growing travel demand ahead of Chhath Puja the Indian Railways has decided to operate more than 12000 special trains. According to reports the step has been taken especially to ensure that people can reach their destinations safely and on time during festivals like Chhath Puja. The passengers must note that the Railways has also released the complete timetable of these special trains in PDF format making it easier for passengers to plan their journeys. During this time the number of passengers traveling towards Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh increases significantly. To manage this rush the Railways has released the complete list of ‘Chhath Special Trains 2025’. By facilitating travel during major festivals like Chhath the Railways ensures that a large number of people can travel without major difficulties. This initiative not only provides relief to passengers but also plays an important role in strengthening the country’s economy and social connectivity. The Railways’ broad operational goal is to connect people to every corner of the nation. Here are some of the key details: Considering the heavy crowds during the upcoming Chhath Puja Indian Railways is set to run over 1200 special trains over the next five days. This averages to 300 special trains per day with the main focus on ensuring safe and comfortable travel for passengers. This effort is in addition to the 4493 special train services operated over the last 21 days during the Diwali rush (an average of 213 per day). From 1st October to 30th November 2025 Indian Railways will operate over 12000 special train services. A total of 11865 services (916 trains) have been notified including 9338 reserved and 2203 unreserved journeys. This number is significantly higher compared to the 7724 special trains operated last year during Puja and Diwali.
