Good news for India passport holders! Indians can now travel to nearly 59 countries without a visa in 2025. As per global passport reports, Indians can enter these countries without obtaining a visa in advance, either because those destinations offer visa-free entry, visa-on-arrival, or an electronic travel authorisation (eTA), all issued fast. Henley Passport Index (mid-2025 updates) puts India’s visa-free/visa-on-arrival/eTA access in the high 50s. In 2025, Indian passport holders have gained more global mobility which is positive news for the country. India’s Global Passport Ranking According to the latest Henley Passport Index, India has gone up to the 77th position, offering visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 59 destinations. It is a significant improvement from previous years. Famous visa-free or visa-on-arrival countries In 2025, some of the prominent countries and territories with Indian travellers include Thailand (often visa-exempt for short stays), Maldives, Indonesia, Nepal and Bhutan, and many island nations in the Indian Ocean and Caribbean. Some of these nations permit short tourist stays without an advance visa. But length of permitted stay and permitted activities (tourism vs business or work) differ from person to person, so it is necessary to check individual rules.
