Suryaveersingh Bhullar and Nitten Kirrtane created history by winning the gold medal in the 50+ Men’s Doubles 4.5 category at the second edition of the Pickleball World Cup in Florida on Saturday night. Their 21-19 victory in the final marked India’s sixth gold and 13th overall medal at the tournament, underscoring the nation’s growing presence in the international arena of pickleball. Bhullar, who also serves as the president of the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA), led the Indian contingent from the front and partnered with former India tennis player Nitten Kirrtane to achieve the milestone. Their final match, which was postponed on Friday night due to poor lighting, resumed on Saturday, where they displayed composure and skill to secure the title. The gold-winning performance not only showcased India’s dominance in the veteran category but also reflected the depth and experience within India’s Pickleball squad, which is currently competing at the World Cup for the first time under the patronage of the IPA.
