This special report focuses on the truce between the Karnataka government and Bengaluru's top industrialists over the city's crumbling infrastructure. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar met with Biocon Chief Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and other business leaders like Mohandas Pai to form a united front for urban development. A defensive D.K. Shivakumar stated, 'Whole globe, Bangalore is the best city, there is no doubt. People creep somewhere, some small traffic jam or some rain water. You just tell me one city where such thing is not there.' This meeting follows a public spat after Mazumdar-Shaw criticised the city's poor governance and pothole-ridden roads. Now, both sides have agreed to amicably resolve differences and work together on key priorities, from pothole repairs to managing the Outer Ring Road, which is used by over 10 lakh software engineers. The government has assured that civic concerns will be a priority, while corporate leaders will help highlight positive government initiatives.
