India Captain Suryakumar Yadav's Message To Teammates: 'Before We Take On The World, Let's Conquer...'

Ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 opener against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday, India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav emphasised the need for his team to “conquer” Asia before facing the world’s best teams in the shortest format of the sport.
India has been identified as the clear favourite to win the Asia Cup, according to fans and former cricketers. The 15-player squad encompasses all aspects of the game and offers substantial firepower in both the batting and bowling departments.
India will begin their campaign against the UAE on September 10 in Dubai. The highly anticipated match against Pakistan is scheduled for September 14, also in Dubai, with the final group stage fixture against Oman set for September 19 in Abu Dhabi.

Commenting on the Asia Cup 2025, Suryakumar mentioned in a video posted by the Indian Cricket Team on social media, “It was a long off, but I am back. Before we take on the world, let’s conquer Asia first.”
Following the conclusion of the 18th season of the IPL in June this year, Suryakumar confirmed he had successfully undergone sports hernia surgery in Munich, Germany. After returning to India, he continued his rehabilitation at the CoE, and weeks of hard work later, the 34-year-old expressed that he is “feeling good.”
Historically, the Men in Blue have won the Asia Cup title eight times (1984, 1988, 1990-91, 1995, 2010, 2016, 2018, and 2023).
Team India vice-captain Shubman Gill remarked, “Eight times, to be precise.”
In the 2025 Asia Cup, the Indian Cricket Team will compete against Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Oman, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka to clinch the title once again.
Left-hand batter Tilak Varma stressed the importance of not underestimating any opponent, stating, “Not taking any opponent lightly.”
