India, Ghana to enhance rconomic development through Partnership at power Energy Expo

The High Commissioner of India to Ghana, His Excellency Manish Gupta, has expressed his commitment to elevating India-Ghana ties to a comprehensive partnership that would work together in Ghana's economic development. Speaking at the 4th edition of West Africa's Largest Building & Construction and Power Electrical and Energy Exhibition in Ghana, Gupta highlighted the potential for deeper collaboration between the two countries. During his stay of over two years in Ghana, Gupta has witnessed the Indian business and industry take an active interest in the Ghanaian market. He noted that this interest extends beyond expanding linkages between India and Ghana to include capacity building and tech transfer initiatives. Gupta emphasized the importance of Ghana's energy transition strategies in providing clean and affordable energy to millions of people across the country. He suggested that solar energy should be viewed not only as a means of power production but also as a way to support industry and agriculture, particularly in the northern regions. The High Commissioner has traveled extensively throughout Ghana, witnessing firsthand the benefits of solar irrigation, solar cold storage facilities, and decentralized mini-grids. He believes these initiatives can transform the fortunes of the northern regions and the country as a whole. Gupta's vision for a comprehensive partnership between India and Ghana aligns with the goals of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme, which aims to promote capacity building and knowledge sharing between India and other countries. With India's investment in Ghana exceeding $2 billion in the last 15 years, the stage is set for a fruitful partnership that can drive economic growth and development in Ghana. Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Richard Gyan-Mensah, has emphasized the government's commitment to positioning Ghana's energy sector as a driving force for industrial transformation. He stressed the need for local enterprises to play a key role in the country's green energy transition, highlighting its potential for job creation and export-led growth. He noted that private sector participation is crucial for achieving universal access to energy and resilient infrastructure, while also ensuring a balance between industrial growth and energy security.
