The 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations have started today in Mendi, Southern Highlands, with a lineup of exciting events.
Local artists Augustine Emile, Estapacifika, AB Nane, and other talented performers from the province are set to perform tomorrow at the Momei Oval.
This celebration marks a significant milestone for the people of Mendi, being the first major festival of its kind in over a decade, and the locals are excited to be part of Papua New Guinea’s jubilee celebration.
The festival is an initiative of the Mendi-Munihu district development authority. With the aim to bring the people togather to showcase the rich cultural heritage and unity of the province.
The celebration is set to continue tomorrow for the main event of the country’s 50th Independence Anniversary.
